At Harry’s Locksmith, we offer Restroom Kits designed for enhanced security, accessibility, and user convenience. Whether you’re managing an office building, healthcare facility, or public space, restroom control solutions help maintain compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) while improving overall functionality.
When installing restroom kits, it was standard practice to use electric strikes for latch retraction; Harry’s Locksmith switched this up in 2018 when we used a mortise lock for latch retraction instead (the first in the United States!). We found the mortise locks to be more durable, and have continued to install this way going forward.
What is a Restroom Kit?
A Restroom Kit is a fully integrated access control solution designed to enhance security, accessibility, and convenience in public and commercial restrooms. These kits ensure compliance with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and OBC/NBC (Ontario and National Building Codes), making restrooms more inclusive while maintaining safety and efficiency.
Restroom Kits include a door control relay, door activation push plate switches, LED annunciation for clear occupancy indication, a door contact for monitoring, and an electric strike for secure and controlled access. These components work together to streamline restroom entry and exit while maintaining security.
